Landscaping has been completed. The final hot-mix asphalt surface course is scheduled to be paved next week starting Tuesday (weather dependent). Tuesday morning, the existing asphalt surface will be coated with fresh oil and sand. The oil will help the top coat of asphalt bond to the existing layer. The layer of sand is to help prevent tracking the oil into your driveways. Please try to keep your driving to a minimum while the oil dries. If you must drive on the oil, please drive slowly to help prevent splattering onto your vehicle. All vehicles must be removed from the roadway between 7:00 A.M. and 5:00 P.M. Parking is available on Wagner, Central and Surrey during daytime work hours.

The landscaper is scheduled to continue the topsoil placement/parkway grading and start sodding next week. The final hot-mix asphalt surface course is scheduled to be paved later this month. The Village has a separate contract with Insituform Technologies to reline the sanitary sewer system and the storm system and will be on Windsor starting Tuesday. Residents will receive a door hanger the night before regarding limited water usage the day of the lining.

Thursday, September 2, 2010

The structures in the road are being adjusted right now. The landscaper will be in within the next couple weeks, once they are finished grading along Indian Road.

Friday, August 27, 2010

Sewer structures are being raised to final grade in the roadway. The contractor is anticipating starting landscape repairs the week after Labor Day. Residents are reminded that their sprinkler systems should be reinstalled before the sod is placed.

Friday, August 20, 2010

The binder level of asphalt is complete, as well as all the driveways. The landscaper should be coming in soon to grade and shape behind the new curbs. Sod will not be placed until after September 1st, as it is just too hot right now!! After the sod gets placed, the surface will be installed. Residents are reminded to start reinstalling sprinkler systems, pet fence wiring and brick amenities before the sod is completed.

Friday, August 13, 2010

The concrete work on the curb & gutters and driveways is complete! The contractor is on site today filling in behind the curb in preparation for asphalt on Monday. The binder level of asphalt (binder is the bottom level, surface is the top) will be placed on Monday and Tuesday. Asphalt drive ways should be installed next week. Here’s some pictures of the concrete curb & gutter being placed.

The road excavation has been completed on Polo and on Windsor from Central to just past the intersection with Polo. This is scheduled to be completed next Monday, with curb installation scheduled for the middle of next week. Residents will receive a letter explaining this operation; curb is going to be placed on both sides of the road. All cars must be out of their driveways by 7 AM on the day curb starts (due to the chance of weather delays, I’m not 100% certain which day this will be. We will confirm with the contractor before sending out notices). The curb will be poured, most likely in two days, along with the few concrete drives that are on Windsor. Concrete takes 72-hours to cure (harden and strengthen), during which cars cannot be driven over it. Once the driveways and curb can be driven on, the contractor will remove the barricades and place temporary stone ramps.

Friday, July 30, 2010

Road prep continues along Windsor and Polo. This is expected to last until mid next week. By the end of next week, the contractor plans to begin curb installation. All residents will receive a letter explaining this, but here’s how it will work: Since the road is so wide, the contractor plans to place curbs on both sides at one time. This is scheduled to begin next Thursday. If the weather cooperates with us, they will be done with the placement by the middle of the following week. Residents will be asked to be out of their driveways by 7 AM on Thursday, August 5th. They will be notified when it will be ok to reenter the driveways. The bottom lift of asphalt could be installed the week of August 16th!

STRIKE HAS BEEN RESOLVED, CONSTRUCTION RESUMES!

The strike was resolved this week and new contracts between the unions and contractors have been signed and are in effect. The contractor resumed work this week!

The water main connections were completed yesterday, completing all underground work! The road prep work will begin next week. This will involve removing the temporary roadway that has been in place, and replacing it with the stone that goes below the asphalt road. Vehicles should not be parked in the roadway between 7 AM and 5 PM. Once the roadway grading is complete curb installation preparation and poring will commence. Notices will be passed out during the curb phase regarding access to the driveways.
